Michelle Obama White Dress

I know that Barack Obama was sworn in as the 44th president, because that was all there was on television yesterday, but what was waaaaaaay more important than that was the dress that Michelle Obama decided to wear to the inauguration balls.

Michelle Obama decided on a white (or ivory, or eggshell) dress designed by Jason Wu and she looked, dare I say, lovely in it. I say "dare I say" because I know that all the morning talk shows are going to disect the outfit Michelle Obama wore as though it reflects how the next 4 years are going to go.

Michelle Obama looked conservative with a hint of sexy and Barack Obama, well, I think we're all thinking the same thing about him. Let's just hope he's not a fan of cigars... so what did you think of Michelle Obama's white dress?

Kevin Allwood Cashmere Coat

This is the mother of all winter coats, or perhaps her hotter, younger sister. It is one of the most beautiful winter coats I have ever seen and I'm sure you'll agree that this winter coat would make any woman feel sexy from head to toe.

With beige recycled fur trim and 100% cashmere, this coat is your answer to the ultimate in luxury. With a slim silhouette, it hugs the body in all the right places and easily gives winter the finger with the warmth and comfort it provides. Timelessly elegant.

Cost: $3,800 (knee length) $4,600 (down to ankle - not shown)

Geri Halliwell Wears a See-Through Dress

Geri Halliwell has become irrelevant ever since she left the Spice Girls... hell, all the Spice Girls are irrelevant ever since they left the Spice Girls. But Geri Halliwell left the group first so she's the most irrelevant.

So in an effort to get people talking, and believe me it's working, Geri Halliwell decided to don a bright red dress without underwear on and the dress happened to blow up due to the wind and reveal her entire ass. No, I'm not kidding.

Geri Halliwell decided to wear this virtually transparent dress to the Children's BAFTA ceremony in London. No, I'm not kidding. It seems that Geri Halliwell feels incredibly sexy at events where children are involved.

Beyonce's Weird Sunglasses

Beyonce is usually a trend setter with her elegant ad sometimes very provocative style. But it looks like Beyonce is taking fashion tips from her disaster of a sister Solange Knowles.

Beyonce was seen sporting sunglasses made of "fringes." Remember fringe jackets in the '80s? Yeah, like that. I have no idea what was going through her head... maybe she did it on a dare, or maybe somebody paid Beyonce $1 million to don them.

Either way, would be caught dead in these Beyonce sunglasses? Yeah, me neither.

Tooth Whitening Listerine Dissolving Strips

Have you ever tried whitening your teeth at home? It's usually a very time restricting endeavor. So I was excited to try a self-dissolving strip by Listerine that promises to white teeth without any harsh abrasives or annoying tooth sensitivity.

So I tried out these Listerine Whitening Quick Dissolving Strips because they were sent to me for free, not because I actively went out and bought them, and they live up to their end of the bargain for the most part. They're easy to apply, and don't come with any gel or bulky trays. The instruction were easy to follow. And there's nothing to remove when the Listerine Whitening Quick Dissolving Strips are finished doing their thing.

And, most importantly, they do make a noticeable difference in the whiteness of the teeth. You can even carry on a conversation with the Listerine Whitening Quick Dissolving Strips on and no one will notice.

They don't taste bad and your mouth will feel so clean once your done. However, unlike what the Listerine Whitening Quick Dissolving Strips advertise, you do have to brush and rinse after using the Listerine Whitening Quick Dissolving Strips. Or, at the very least, rinse.

Overall, the Listerine Whitening Quick Dissolving Strips are great and I would recommend them to anyone who wants to whiten their teeth. If you have incredibly sensitive teeth to begin with though, I wouldn't recommend the Listerine Whitening Quick Dissolving Strips, or any whitening agent for that matter.

Fall 2008 Makeup Trends

By Danielle Lemay

Fall 2008 makeup is all about being bold and looking as sexy as can be. That said, here are 4 items you simply can't do without this season, so head out as soon as you can and prepare to look hot as the weather cools down.

Fall 2008 makeup trend #1
Dark lipstick

I know that we've been keeping it subtle around the mouth for a while not, but it's time to kick it up a bit and get with the high drama lips. And no, I don't mean for you to start wearing that nasty orange-red lipstick from the '90s.

Rather, go for a glossy dark shades like Smashbox's Wicked Lovely Lip Gloss in Sultry. If you still aren't a big fan of the dark colors, you can start out light and glossy with other colors like Coy or Sweet and work your way to Sultry at your own pace. I know you can do it.

Recommended: Smashbox's Wicked Lovely Lip Gloss in Sultry

Fall 2008 makeup trend #2
Dark eyeshadow
Fall 2008's eyes are all about glamour and deeper shades of grey. Of course, you needn't look like a raccoon throughout the day, but when it's time to head out on the town on a Friday night, you can coat your lashes with a pewter-colored powder that will bring out the sexy vixen in you.

So invest your hard earned dollars in NARS' duo eyeshadows in Paris or Pandora, but again, you don't have to live by the trends religiously; if you know that grays don't suit you, don't force the issue - but use this season to try something new anyway.

Recommended: NARS' duo eyeshadows in Paris or Pandora

Fall 2008 makeup trend #3
Shiny, healthy skin
I don't know of a time when craters were the "in" trend, but I do know that the matte look has taken a backseat to fall 2008's more luminous look. I have to warn you, though, this look is not for women who have deep lines and wrinkles on their faces; the luminous look will only make you look older.

For the rest of you, Shiseido offers up a handy little kit that promises to help your face shine its brightest and look its best no matter where you venture. The combination of products promise to diminish dark spots, freckles, and dullness, and reveal a bright, healthy complexion.

Recommended: Shiseido White Lucent Brighten Up Eye Kit

Fall 2008 makeup trend #4
Long, thick lashes
No eye looks right without long, lushes, uber-feminine lashes and what better way to get those perfect lashes than with the right mascara? Say goodbye to clumpy, dumpy lashes and say hello to a mascara that grips onto the lashes from root to tip and elongates what you were born with.

Sold exclusively at Sephora, Givenchy's Phenomen'Eyes Mascara will give you the perfect, sexy eyes you've been longing for, without making you look like you lumped 5 pounds worth of mascara on.

Ugliest Shoes Ever

I'm pretty open-minded when it comes to shoes and like to think that I can pull off just about any shoe thrown my way. But these shoes are, by far, the ugliest shoes I have ever seen.

But I can just see all the strippers investing in these, thinking that they'll become all the rage. And is it just me, or do they look like they were made at Ikea? Those clever bastards think of everything.

10 Ridiculous Hair Myths

By Danielle Lemay

Growing up, I was always told to avoid cutting my hair during that time of the month because it wouldn’t turn out right and I’ll end up with bad hair until I cut it again.

Of course, that, like most other advice I was given by friends, turned out to be a load of crap. And that wasn’t the only advice I was given regarding my hair. So I made it a point to come up with the most commonly discussed myths among women and dispel the majority of them.

So read on to find out if some of the hair myths (or what you may believe to be the truth until now) you’ve heard in the past are here and what the truth really is.

Hair myths #1
If you remove 1 gray, 2 will grow
I can’t tell you how many people have told me this myth. That’s not to say I have thousands of gray hairs, mind you, just that I always volunteer to pluck out that one lone gray hair every time I spot it on my 30-something friends’ heads. According to the “remove one two will grow” logic, no matter the color of hair, if you pull one out, two will grow back, so thin-haired people should remove all their hair and expect twice the hair to grow back. Yeah, I don’t think so.

Hair myths #2
A hairdresser can fix split ends
Split ends are here to stay. There’s nothing you can do about it, besides cutting your hair before you actually get them. Once a hair is split, that’s the end of it. You need to cut it off. Even if you glued your split ends together, that wouldn’t fix the problem, it would just look like, well, like you had a There’s Something About Mary “gel” moment.

Hair myths #3
Brushing your hair is good
Brushing your hair should be avoided at all costs. If you must brush your hair, use natural bristled-brushes, flip your hair in front of your face and brush from the nape of your neck to the ends. Don’t ever brush your hair when it’s wet. You’re better off using your fingers to detangle your hair. Brushing your hair causes breaking and split ends. And you cannot repair split ends (see number 2).

Hair myths #4
Washing your hair daily will keep it healthy

Ever since I began washing my hair every five days, it looks healthier than ever, and it even styles more easily. Of course, if you sweat a lot during your days (gym, manual labor, chasing kids around the house) then you may want to wash it every two or three days, but washing your hair every day, especially with a chemical-heavy shampoo, will rob it of essential oils that are produced naturally.

Hair myths #5
Dyeing your hair will cause premature grays
Hair goes gray due to aging and inherited factors and there is absolutely no evidence to support the myth that dyeing your hair will cause it to go gray at a younger age. Hair loses color because it stops producing melanin, the pigment that creates your hair color.

Hair myths #6
Dandruff is caused by dry scalp

Dandruff is caused by the shedding of dead skin cells and is actually most prevalent in areas of the head where grease glands are not only widespread, but most active.

Hair myths #7
Full moon haircuts will make it grow faster
It was believed that cutting your hair during certain phases of the moon would cause it to grow faster or slower, and even dictate whether or not it would maintain its luster. Of course, science has proven otherwise. The moon affects the ocean, but that’s about it.

Hair myths #8
You need to change shampoo every 2 months

Your hair cannot tell the difference between shampoos or conditioners, so if you have a favorite shampoo, you can use it for the rest of your life without problem. It is recommended, however, to use a clarifying shampoo every two or three weeks if you have very oily hair.

Hair myths #9
Cutting hair makes it grow longer & stronger

I know, I know, every time you cut your hair it looks and feels stronger and you just know it grows better. The thing is, cutting off the ends of your hair makes it look thicker because you’re chopping off split and weak ends, but there really is no truth to it growing stronger once it’s cut.

Hair myths #10
Lemon juice & sunshine will lighten hair
Although you might believe that squeezing a lemon into your hair and lying in the sun will lighten your hair, the truth is it doesn’t. A combination of lemon juice and sunshine will dry and damage your hair, however.

Keep your hair healthy

So now you know what your hair does and does not need. So the next time someone urges you to cut your hair during a full moon or your mother tells you that dyeing your hair will make you go gray, give them this article and swing your hair while you walk off.

Full Lips - 7 Ways To Get The Look

By Danielle Lemay

Most of us aren’t blessed with full lips like Angelina Jolie’s, nor would most of us want them (I don’t know about you, but they would completely take over my face). Nevertheless, considering that lip size has been linked to sexual attraction, it’s always good to have that fuller lips look going for you.

Of course, you don’t want to look like you just stepped out of a lip-injection party, either. So here’s how to achieve full lips without needles… or ass fat.

Invest in a high quality lip balm
Balm, unlike gloss, is used to help turn your lips into healthy, full lips by treating cracks and peeling. Apply it to your lips and make sure to dab it with a tissue afterwards, just in case you’re anything like me and lob the stuff on like it was a snack.

Suggested brands:
Burt's Bees Beeswax
Fresh Sugar Lip Balm (with SPF 15)
Benefit Lipscription
NARS’ Lip Therapy

Use a lip liner
I know, I know, when you hear the words “lip liner” you immediately imagine old The Jenny Jones Show episodes where she had on those rebellious Latina girls with dark brown lip liner and some light colored lipstick, which essentially made them look like they had mustaches.

But I’m not talking about using a lip liner that can double as a mustache tracer; the lip liner you want to invest in blends with your lip color. For example, if your lips have a naturally pink hue, you would purchase, you guessed it, a pink-hued lip liner.

Your objective, when using lip liner, is to define your lips. So don’t draw a new pair or make a crooked line. Simply shape the outline of your newly full lips and fix any tiny asymmetries.

(Note: Remember to purchase an appropriate-sized sharpener to go with your new lip pencil.)

Suggested brands:
NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil
Givenchy Lip Lip Lip! Liner
Stila Lip Pencil

Apply some gloss
You knew this was coming. While shine is not cool on other parts of your face, it is so good for your lips’ image. Not only does a lip gloss make your lips look incredibly kissable, it manages to add a fullness effect that your lips would not otherwise have.

Note that if you purchase a gloss, chances are that your long strands of hair will get stuck to your lips when the wind blows said strands onto your lips. But hey, no one said that having full lips was a simple task.

Suggested brands:
Dior Addict Ultra Gloss
Du Wop Lip Venom
Fusion Beauty LipFusion Lip Plump

Add a dash of white shimmer
You may have been doing the three aforementioned steps for ages and are thinking, Hey, wait a minute, she didn’t tell me anything I didn’t already know. But did you know that adding a touch of white shimmer to your lips can make the difference between nice lips and kissable, full lips?

Although you can use a white shimmer eye shadow, I recommend investing in some white shimmer lipstick instead. This way, you can apply the lipstick anywhere you are.

The secret to perfecting this trick is to apply the white shimmer right smack dab in the middle of your lips on the lower and upper lip. Be sure not to rub your full lips sideways after application.

Suggested brands:
MAC Glaze in Bubbles
NARS Lip Lacquer in Galactica
Sephora Gloss Lipstick in Sheer White Pearl

Apply your fuller lips

I see women in washrooms all over the world applying their lipstick in 3 seconds flat and not paying much mind to what they’re doing, but I believe that applying make up is a very sensual experience and you should be very aware of what it is you are doing.

That said, when you’re preparing to leave the house tomorrow, dedicate some time to prepping your lips and before you know it, they’ll be looking so sensuous that someone will ask you if they can kiss your full lips.

Until next time, make it up.
